Questions about the Campaign

Will I feel pressured to make a pledge?
No. We simply ask that each person pray daily and ask God to help them think about what amount they can joyfully give to the campaign.
How long is the commitment?
The commitment period is for three years.
If I can’t give a larger amount, will my pledge really matter?
Yes, absolutely! All pledges matter, regardless of amount. If we all joyfully participate according to our ability, God will strengthen our church and bless the giving.
What happens if we don’t raise enough money?
Once we know how much we’ve raised through the capital campaign, we’ll then know if we need to borrow funds. The session will determine what level of mortgage we are comfortable taking on and if that’s not enough, we will need to discuss what changes need to be made to the project.
Will asking for money for this campaign negatively impact money for other worthy missions?
We are operating from a position of abundance, not scarcity. Raising money for our building shouldn’t mean there won’t be enough for other needs. Making improvements to our building is a long term approach to mission and service and not just an immediate fix. Our hope is also that our campaign approach is faith-deepening and so we’ll increase our capacity to give.
When does giving to the campaign begin? When will the balance be due?
We will begin accepting donations immediately and ask that the balance of commitments be paid by the end of 2018. When and how you choose to give in that timeframe is totally up to you.
What if I make a pledge and then cannot fulfill it? Should I not pledge in case that happens?
Things happen in life. Circumstances change. We all understand that. We also trust that, in the midst of change (and sometimes directly through it) God provides. We ask all members of the congregation to make a commitment to this campaign and trust that they will do whatever they can to fulfill that commitment. If circumstances change and you need to decrease (or increase) your pledge we will understand and there will be nor pressure or guilt. Please don’t let fear of what might happen keep you from committing to this incredibly important endeavor.
